Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 11, 2026
Last Updated: August 24, 2026
1. INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE
Couplify LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company ("Couplify," "we," "us," or "our"), operates the Couplify dating application for iOS and Android devices and the companion website located at couplify.com (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and safeguard personal information when you access or use the Service.
By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. Where required by law, we will request separate consent for specific processing activities, including biometric identity verification, certain sensitive personal information, consumer health data, marketing communications, or precise location access. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, do not create an account or use the Service.
This Privacy Policy applies to users of the Service within the United States. Couplify does not currently operate outside the United States.
Additional Notices. California residents should also review the California Privacy Notice in Section 13 and Appendix B. Residents of Washington, Nevada, Connecticut, and other states with consumer health data laws should also review the Consumer Health Data Privacy Notice attached as Appendix A and made available through a separate link where required by law.
Feature-Specific Notices. Certain features, such as identity verification, biometric verification, precise location, AI-assisted features, contact import, profile sharing, or promotional programs, may require their own notices or consent flows. If a feature-specific notice conflicts with this Privacy Policy for that feature, the feature-specific notice controls.
2. ELIGIBILITY AND AGE RESTRICTIONS
2.1 The Service is intended exclusively for individuals who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect, solicit, or maintain personal information from anyone under 18.
2.2 Age verification is supported through our identity verification process, which may require a valid government-issued identification document confirming the user's date of birth. Any account determined to belong to a minor will be terminated, and associated data will be deleted, subject to legally permitted retention for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or enforcement purposes.
2.3 Couplify does not permit users under 18 under any circumstances, does not offer a minor-accessible version of the Service, and does not knowingly profile minors or direct advertising to minors.
2.4 If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a person under 18, contact us immediately at privacy@couplify.com.
3. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
3.1 Account Registration Information.
When you create an account, we collect your full legal name, date of birth, email address, phone number, gender, gender preferences, account credentials, and related account information. Passwords are stored in encrypted or hashed form.
3.2 Identity Verification Information
To promote user safety and reduce fake accounts, we require identity verification before accessing all Service features. Identity verification requires submission of a government-issued identification document, such as a driver's license, passport, or state ID, and a real-time selfie photograph. From these submissions, Couplify or its identity verification provider derives biometric identifiers or biometric information, such as facial geometry data, used to confirm that the person creating the account matches the identification document. We also retain verification status, verification results, document type, and timestamps.
3.3 Profile Information
You may provide photographs and videos, written profile descriptions (including descriptions generated through our FirstImpressions feature), love language preferences, physical attributes, and lifestyle information, including but not limited to smoking and drinking habits, religion, education, professional title, relationship intent, marital status, and parental status. We also may collect values and lifestyle data, communication style preferences, behavioral pattern responses, interests, activities, hobbies, and matching preferences you specify, including age range, distance, gender, ethnicity, religion, and relationship type. Question Exchange responses and responses you save for future exchanges may also be collected and stored.
You should avoid including sensitive health, financial, government identification, or other unnecessary sensitive information in your profile, messages, Community Group posts, or Question Exchange responses. We do not request that you provide medical diagnoses, treatment information, reproductive health information, or other health care information as part of your profile.
3.4 Subscription and Payment Information
We collect subscription plan information, transaction history, billing records, and payment status. Payment method details are processed by third-party payment processors. We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers.
3.5 Usage and Interaction Data
We collect records of matching activity (matches sent, received, accepted, and declined), your progression through our connection protocol (Match, Interested, Question Exchange, View Answers, Connect, Mutually Connected, Message), profile viewing activity, feature usage (including MyMatchability scores, FirstImpressions requests, and Have You Met interactions), Community Group membership and interactions, messages exchanged between mutually connected users, progression through our connection protocol, session duration and frequency metrics, safety reports, blocking decisions, and enforcement history.
3.6 Device and Technical Information
We automatically collect device type, model, operating system, unique device identifiers, IP address, browser type and version, application version, crash logs, security logs, and performance data.
3.7 Location Data
We collect city-level or general location information for Community Groups, Have You Met, and location-relevant matching. If you grant device-level location permission, we may temporarily process precise location information solely to determine your city or general location for matching and community features. Unless otherwise disclosed at the point of collection, we do not store precise GPS coordinates on an ongoing basis or display precise locations to other users.
3.8 Derived and Inferred Information
Through the operation of the Service, we generate MyMatchability profile effectiveness scores, FirstImpressions AI-assisted profile descriptions, Spark Algorithm compatibility assessments, Have You Met suggestions, profile quality signals, safety and trust signals, and other inferences used to provide, secure, and improve the Service.
3.9 Photos, Videos, Audio, Content, and Metadata
When you upload photos, videos, audio, profile text, messages, or other content, we may collect the content itself and related metadata, such as the date, time, file type, device information, and, if available, approximate location or other information embedded in the file. We may scan, review, moderate, store, and analyze content you provide, including through automated tools and service providers, to operate the Service, detect fraud or fake accounts, enforce our Terms of Service, support safety features, assess content quality, and improve matching, profile recommendations, and user experience.
3.10 Communications, Reports, and Moderation Data
We collect communications you send to Couplify, messages you exchange with other users, safety reports submitted by or about you, blocking or unmatching activity, customer support communications, moderation notes, enforcement decisions, and related evidence or investigation records. Other users may submit reports or information involving you, and we may process that information to investigate potential violations, protect users, or enforce our Terms of Service.
3.11 Third-Party Platform, Social Login, and Contact Information
If Couplify offers social login, account linking, contact import, friends-in-common, referral, or similar features, we may collect information that you authorize the third-party platform, device, or address book to share with us, such as your name, profile photo, email address, user ID, contacts, friends list, or other information made available through your settings. We will use that information only as disclosed at the time of collection and in this Privacy Policy. You can usually manage these permissions through your device settings or the applicable third-party platform.
3.12 Surveys, Research, Promotions, and Events
If you participate in surveys, focus groups, research, contests, sweepstakes, promotions, events, or beta programs, we may collect information needed to administer your participation, process entries, communicate with you, improve the Service, and comply with promotional rules or applicable law.
3.13 Advertising, Attribution, and Cross-Device Information
If Couplify uses advertising, attribution, analytics, or similar technologies, we may collect or allow service providers to collect identifiers, cookie IDs, mobile advertising identifiers, device identifiers, IP address, app events, referral URLs, engagement data, and other technical information to measure campaigns, prevent fraud, understand Service usage, and, where permitted, promote Couplify on third-party services. Where such activity constitutes a sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling under applicable law, we will provide required notices and opt-out mechanisms.
4. HOW WE COLLECT INFORMATION
4.2 Directly from you. We collect information you provide when you create an account, complete identity verification, build your profile, set preferences, participate in Question Exchanges, send messages, interact with Community Groups, purchase subscriptions, contact support, or submit safety reports.
4.3 Through automated technologies. When you use the Service, we automatically collect device information, usage data, and technical logs through cookies, software development kits, application logs, analytics tools, crash-reporting tools, security tools, and similar technologies.
4.4 Through identity verification providers. We engage third-party identity verification services to process your government-issued ID, selfie, biometric information, verification results, and related fraud-prevention signals on our behalf.
4.5 Through algorithmic and automated analysis. The Spark Algorithm, FirstImpressions, Have You Met, and MyMatchability, as described in Section 6.
4.6 From payment processors. We receive confirmation of payment transactions, subscription status, transaction identifiers, chargeback information, and limited billing details, but not full payment card information.
4.7 From other users. We receive information from other users of the Services, including when they submit safety reports, complaints, feedback, profile-sharing actions, date-sharing details, referrals, or information involving you.
4.8 From third-party platforms, social networking services, device permissions, address books, or other sources that you authorize to share information with Couplify.
4.9 From vendors, safety partners, fraud-prevention providers, public sources, or other third parties where legally permitted and reasonably necessary to protect the Service, prevent abuse, verify information, investigate violations, or comply with law.
5. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use personal information for the following purposes:
- Account creation, authentication, account management, subscription management, and customer support.
- Identity verification, fraud prevention, anti-impersonation controls, platform safety, user trust, and enforcement of our Terms of Service.
- Matching and compatibility features, including the Spark Algorithm, bidirectional matching, MyMatchability, FirstImpressions, Have You Met, Question Exchange, profile view notifications, Community Groups, and messaging between mutually connected users.
- Service improvement, analytics, troubleshooting, debugging, testing, security monitoring, abuse detection, and development of new or improved features.
- Billing, payment processing, subscription administration, tax and accounting compliance, chargeback management, and dispute resolution.
- Service-related communications, including account notices, safety notices, security alerts, subscription updates, support responses, and policy updates.
- Promotional communications where permitted by law and where required, with your consent. You may opt out of promotional communications at any time.
- Legal compliance, response to valid legal process, preservation of rights, investigation of safety incidents, and protection of Couplify, users, or the public.
- Content review, moderation, safety screening, image and video quality review, fraud detection, investigation of reports, enforcement of community standards, and prevention of banned or harmful users from returning to the Service.
- Operation of optional or future features such as social login, contact import, profile sharing, date sharing, referrals, promotions, contests, surveys, research, events, and beta testing, where made available and permitted by law.
- Advertising, attribution, campaign measurement, and promotion of Couplify, only as permitted by law and subject to any required consent or opt-out rights.
When you view another user's profile, that user may receive a profile view notification including your display name, age, profile photo, and approximate time of viewing. This is part of the Service experience and may not be independently disabled unless required by law or made available through Service settings.
6. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND AUTOMATED DECISION-MAKING
Couplify uses AI-powered and automated tools to operate certain Service features. We are committed to transparency regarding when and how these tools are used. Certain features may constitute profiling or automated decision-making under applicable state privacy laws. Where required by law, you may opt out of eligible automated processing or request meaningful information about the logic involved, the significance of the processing, and the reasonably foreseeable consequences of the processing.
6.2 Spark Algorithm
The Spark Algorithm uses machine learning and automated analysis to evaluate compatibility between users based on information such as love language preferences, values alignment, communication style, behavioral patterns, profile information, preferences, and interaction signals. It generates match recommendations and related compatibility assessments. Matching on Couplify is bidirectional: neither user appears in the other's results unless both meet each other's stated criteria, subject to Service design and applicable settings.
6.3 MyMatchability
MyMatchability may operate in different contexts. The standalone MyMatchability tool accessible at mymatchability.com is intended to analyze profile content, photos, written descriptions, and preference settings to generate a profile effectiveness score and recommendations for improvement. If a version of MyMatchability uses only deterministic, rules-based scoring, it may not constitute AI or automated decision-making under certain laws. Separately, any MyMatchability score displayed within the Couplify app that is generated by or materially relies on the Spark Algorithm may be subject to the AI and profiling disclosures in this Section 6.
6.4 FirstImpressions
FirstImpressions uses AI-assisted analysis of photos, profile information, and stated preferences to generate suggested profile descriptions. You retain editorial control over any AI-assisted text before publication on your profile, and you may decline to use this feature. Any description generated by FirstImpressions and published to your profile may be labeled as AI-assisted.
6.5 Have You Met
Have You Met uses automated analysis to suggest potential connections, which may include users who fall just outside your stated preferences but may be compatible based on deeper pattern analysis, and users who are geographically nearby or within a broader location-relevant range. This feature may process preference data, location data, and compatibility scoring.
6.6 AI Service Providers and Training Restrictions
Certain AI features may process data on Couplify systems and through third-party AI service providers, including OpenAI or other providers engaged by Couplify. AI service providers are contractually restricted from using personal information submitted by Couplify to train or improve general-purpose AI models, except where expressly authorized by Couplify and permitted by applicable law. Couplify does not sell data collected or generated through AI features. Couplify does not use private messages between users to train general-purpose AI models.
6.7 Opt-Out Rights for Automated Decision-Making and Profiling
Where required by applicable law, you may opt out of eligible automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. To submit a request, contact privacy@couplify.com. We will process and confirm eligible opt-out requests within the timeframe required by applicable law. Opting out of AI-powered matching or profiling may substantially limit Service functionality because automated matching is a core feature of the Service.
6.8 Risk Assessments
Where required by applicable law, Couplify conducts and maintains risk assessments or data protection assessments for processing activities that present a heightened risk of harm, including certain AI-powered features, profiling activities, biometric processing, and sensitive data processing.
7. BIOMETRIC DATA AND IDENTITY VERIFICATION
This section describes how we handle biometric data and is intended to address the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (“BIPA”), the Texas Capture or Use of Biometric Identifier Act, Washington’s biometric statute, Colorado law, and similar laws elsewhere. Before any biometric data is collected, we present a separate consent screen, and our full retention and destruction schedule is published in our Biometric Privacy Policy couplify.com/biometric-privacy-policy.
7.2 Biometric Data We Collect. Identity verification is required to create a Couplify account. During verification we collect a photograph of the front of your government-issued identification document and photographs of your face, taken while you look straight ahead, then left, then right. From those images, a facial template, a mathematical representation of your facial geometry, is generated and compared against the photograph on your identification document. We use Persona Identities Inc. (“Persona”) to perform verification. Persona acts as our service provider, processing this data on our behalf and under our instructions.
7.3 Purpose of Collection. Biometric data is collected and used only to confirm that your identification document is authentic, that you are the person shown on it, that you are physically present at the time of verification, and to prevent duplicate or fraudulent accounts. We do not use biometric data for any other purpose.
7.4 Informed Consent. Before biometric data is collected, every user, in every state, is shown a standalone consent screen identifying the biometric identifiers collected, the purpose of collection and use, the retention and destruction schedule, and the recipients of the data. Collection does not begin until you provide affirmative written consent through that screen. Identity verification cannot be completed, and a Couplify account cannot be created, without it.
7.5 Retention Schedule. Your identification document photograph, your face photographs, and the facial template generated from them are permanently destroyed within 30 days of verification. This applies whether or not verification is completed; data from abandoned or unsuccessful attempts is destroyed on the same schedule. After that period, we retain only the outcome of verification, your verification status and liveness result, which contain no biometric data. We retain those for the duration of your active account. We also retain a record of your consent, including the date and the version of the notice presented to you. That record contains no biometric identifiers or biometric information. If verification is subject to an active fraud review, appeal, or legal hold, or where a longer period is required by law, we retain the relevant data only for as long as that circumstance persists. In no case do we retain biometric identifiers or biometric information for longer than three years following your last interaction with Couplify.
7.6 Destruction Protocol. On expiration of the retention period, or on a verified deletion request, biometric data is permanently deleted from active systems and Persona is directed to destroy the data it holds on our behalf. Deleted data is not archived, deactivated, or otherwise retained in a recoverable form in active systems. Copies residing in secure backup and disaster-recovery media are overwritten in the ordinary course of backup rotation, unless earlier deletion is required by law.
7.7 Prohibition on Sale and Restricted Disclosure. Couplify will not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from biometric identifiers or biometric information. We will not use biometric data for advertising, share it with data brokers, contribute it to any fraud network unrelated to Couplify, or use it to train artificial intelligence models. We do not disclose biometric data to anyone other than Persona, except with your consent, where necessary to complete the verification you requested, where required by law or valid legal process, or as otherwise permitted by applicable biometric privacy law.
7.8 Security Standards. Biometric data is stored using a standard of care equal to or more protective than the manner in which we store other confidential and sensitive information, including encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access controls, access logging, and restricted access.
7.9 Persona’s Obligations. Persona is contractually required to process biometric data only to provide verification services to Couplify, to comply with applicable biometric privacy laws, to apply Couplify’s retention and destruction schedule, to maintain appropriate security protections, to support deletion requests, and to refrain from selling, leasing, trading, or otherwise profiting from biometric data.
7.10 Withdrawing Consent. Because verification is required to use Couplify, you may withdraw your consent by deleting your account in Settings, which permanently deletes your verification data. You may also contact us at privacy@couplify.com with any question or request concerning your biometric data. We respond within 15 days.
8. LOCATION DATA
8.2 Couplify collects city-level or general location data for Service features. We do not display precise location to other users.
8.3 Location may be determined through IP address geolocation, device-level location services if you grant permission, or a city you manually select in profile settings.
8.4 If you grant device-level location permission, we may temporarily process precise location information solely to determine your city or general location for matching and community features. Unless otherwise disclosed at the point of collection, we do not store precise GPS coordinates on an ongoing basis.
8.5 Location data is used to assign you to city-based Community Groups, power Have You Met, provide location-relevant match results, and display general location on your profile at the city level.
8.6 You may update your city through profile settings. You may also manage device-level location permissions through your device settings. If you deny device-level location permissions, we may rely on IP-based geolocation or your manually selected city.
8.7 Couplify does not use geofencing around health care facilities to identify, track, collect consumer health data from, or send targeted messages or advertisements to users.
9. HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION
Couplify does not sell personal information as that term is defined under applicable privacy laws and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only as described below.
9.2 With Other Users. Your profile information, including photos, descriptions, age, city, and preferences you choose to display, may be visible to other verified subscribers who meet matching criteria. Messages are shared only between mutually connected users. Community Group posts are visible to applicable group members. Profile view notifications may be shared as described in this Privacy Policy.
9.3 With Service Providers and Processors. We share information with service providers and processors that perform services on our behalf, including identity verification providers, payment processors, cloud hosting providers, security providers, AI and machine learning service providers, analytics providers, customer support platforms, email and notification service providers, and professional advisers. We require service providers and processors that handle sensitive personal information, biometric data, consumer health data, or AI-processed data to process such information only on our documented instructions, maintain confidentiality, implement appropriate security safeguards, assist with consumer rights requests, delete or return data upon request or contract termination, and refrain from selling, sharing, retaining, using, or disclosing the information except as necessary to provide services to Couplify or as otherwise permitted by applicable law.
9.4 For Legal and Safety Reasons. We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; enforce our Terms of Service or other agreements; protect the safety, rights, or property of Couplify, our users, or the public; detect, prevent, or address fraud, abuse, security, or technical issues; or respond to an emergency involving danger of death or serious physical injury.
9.5 Legal Request Safeguards. We review legal requests for validity and scope before disclosing user information. Unless prohibited by law or where notice would create a safety, security, or fraud risk, we may notify affected users of legal requests for their information.
9.6 Business Transfers. In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, financing, or asset sale, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or prominent notice within the Service before personal information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.
9.7 With Your Consent. We may share information for purposes not described in this Privacy Policy with your explicit, informed consent.
9.8 Aggregated and De-Identified Data. We may share aggregated or de-identified data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you. We maintain de-identified data in de-identified form and do not attempt to re-identify it except as permitted by law.
9.9 Reports, Safety Notices, and Data Requests. If a user submits a report involving you, we may tell that user whether we took action in response to the report, where appropriate and legally permitted. If another user requests a copy of their personal information, that user may receive copies of messages, content, or interaction data that you sent to them or that relates to their account, subject to applicable privacy, safety, and legal limitations.
9.10 Profile Sharing and User-Directed Sharing. If Couplify offers profile sharing, date sharing, referral, contact import, or similar features, you may choose to share certain profile, match, date, or contact information with other users or people outside the Service. Other users may also share information about you through those features. You should use care before sharing another person's information and obtain their permission where appropriate.
9.11 Advertising and Measurement Partners. Couplify does not currently sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If Couplify later uses third-party advertising networks, pixels, SDKs, social media tools, or similar technologies in a way that constitutes a sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling under applicable law, we will update this Privacy Policy, provide required notices, and make available a Your Privacy Choices mechanism or equivalent opt-out tool before engaging in that activity.
9.12 Safety Partners and Similar-Threat Sharing. Where legally permitted, we may share limited information with vendors, service providers, or other partners facing similar fraud, abuse, or security threats, and may receive information from them when reasonably necessary to detect, prevent, or address spam, abuse, impersonation, fraud, stalking, harassment, unlawful activity, or threats to the safety and integrity of the Service.
10. DATA RETENTION
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary and proportionate to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, provide the Service, maintain safety and security, prevent fraud and abuse, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
10.1 General Retention Schedule. Unless a different period is required by law or permitted for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or enforcement:
- Account registration information is retained for the duration of your active account plus 90 days after deletion.
- Government-issued ID images are retained for 30 days after successful verification, then permanently deleted, with verification status, document type, and timestamps retained for the duration of your active account plus 90 days after deletion.
- Biometric selfies and facial geometry data are retained for 30 days.
- Profile information, Spark Algorithm compatibility data, messages, and Question Exchange responses are retained for the duration of your active account plus 30 days after deletion.
- MyMatchability scores, FirstImpressions descriptions, and location data are deleted upon account deletion, unless retention is legally required or permitted for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or enforcement.
- Payment and transaction records are retained for seven years for tax, accounting, chargeback, and legal compliance purposes.
- Community Group posts are retained for the duration of the group's existence plus 30 days, with a user's posts deleted 30 days after account deletion, subject to safety, legal, or enforcement exceptions.
- Usage and interaction data are retained for two years from collection, after which they may be retained in aggregated or de-identified form.
- Device, technical, security, and crash information is retained for one year from collection unless needed for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or enforcement.
- Customer support and safety records are retained for three years from resolution unless a longer period is reasonably necessary for safety, legal compliance, or enforcement.
10.2 Deletion and Exceptions. When the applicable retention period expires, or you submit a verified deletion request, we will delete or irreversibly deidentify the data within the timeframe required by applicable law. After account deletion, we may retain limited information where reasonably necessary to comply with law, prevent fraud, enforce bans or safety restrictions, resolve disputes, investigate security or safety incidents, or protect the rights, safety, and integrity of Couplify, our users, or others.
10.3 Account Closure and Visibility. When you close or delete your account, your profile will no longer be visible to other users after the closure is processed, except where limited visibility is required for safety, moderation, legal compliance, or technical reasons. If Couplify offers account restoration, certain account information may be restored if you create a new account using the same credentials within a limited restoration period disclosed in the Service.
10.4 Safety Retention Window. To protect users and the Service, Couplify may retain personal information for a limited safety retention window after account closure and for a longer period after an account ban, suspension, or serious safety incident. During this period, information may be retained to investigate unlawful or harmful conduct, respond to reports, prevent banned users from creating new accounts, protect potential victims, comply with legal obligations, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. Couplify will limit retained information to what is reasonably necessary for those purposes.
10.5 Inactive Accounts and Suspensions. Couplify may close or delete accounts that remain inactive for an extended period, such as two years, after providing notice where required by law or Service settings. If your account is suspended, your profile may not be visible while the suspension is pending, but we may retain information during the suspension period and for any applicable safety, legal, or enforcement period.
10.6 Consent and Compliance Records. Couplify may retain records of consents, privacy requests, notices, policy versions, account status, enforcement history, and related compliance records for as long as reasonably necessary to demonstrate compliance with law, respond to disputes, and enforce our rights.
11. DATA MINIMIZATION AND SENSITIVE PERSONAL INFORMATION
11.1 Data Minimization. Couplify collects and retains personal information only to the extent reasonably necessary and proportionate to provide the Service, maintain user safety, verify user identity, prevent fraud and abuse, comply with law, and support the purposes disclosed in this Privacy Policy. We do not request that users provide sensitive information unless it is necessary for a disclosed Service feature or legally required consent has been obtained.
11.2 Sensitive Personal Information. Certain information processed by Couplify may be considered sensitive personal information under applicable law, including government identification information, biometric data, precise location information if enabled, sexual orientation or gender preference information, race or ethnicity if provided as a preference, religious information if provided, and certain profile, photo, video, message, or Community Group content.
11.3 Consent and Withdrawal. Where required by law, we obtain your consent before collecting or processing sensitive personal information and provide a mechanism to withdraw consent. Withdrawal of consent may limit or prevent your use of certain Service features where the information is necessary to provide those features, maintain safety, verify identity, prevent fraud, comply with law, or enforce our agreements.
11.4 User-Provided Sensitive Content. Information you choose to include in your profile, photos, videos, Community Group posts, Question Exchange responses, or messages may reveal sensitive information about you. You should not include information you do not want other users to see, or that is not necessary for use of the Service.
12. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS
Depending on your state of residence, you may have some or all of the following rights with respect to your personal information:
- Right to know, confirm, and access whether we process your personal information and obtain a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Right to correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
- Right to deletion, subject to statutory exceptions such as legal compliance, fraud prevention, safety, or completion of a transaction you initiated.
- Right to data portability in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format where required by law.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing. Couplify does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Right to opt out of eligible profiling or automated decision-making where required by applicable law.
- Right to limit or withdraw consent for certain sensitive personal information processing where required by applicable law.
- Right to non-discrimination and non-retaliation for exercising privacy rights.
- Right to appeal a denied privacy request where required by applicable law.
To exercise any privacy right, contact privacy@couplify.com or write to us at the address in Section 18 (Changes to This Privacy Policy). We will verify your identity using information associated with your account. We will respond within 45 days of receiving a verified request, unless a different period applies under state law, and may extend the response period where legally permitted. You may designate an authorized agent to submit requests on your behalf; we may require proof of authorization and may contact you directly to confirm the request. You may delete your account through app settings, which initiates the retention and destruction schedules described in this Privacy Policy.
13. CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS (CCPA/CPRA)
This section provides additional disclosures for California residents as required by the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, "CCPA"), to the extent the CCPA applies to Couplify.
13.2 Categories of Personal Information Collected. In the preceding 12 months, we may have collected the following CCPA categories: identifiers; personal information described in California Civil Code Section 1798.80(e); protected classification characteristics; commercial information; biometric information; internet or electronic network activity; geolocation data; audio, electronic, visual, or similar information; sensitive personal information; and inferences drawn from personal information.
13.3 Sources of Collection. We collect personal information directly from you, automatically through your use of the Service, from identity verification providers, from payment processors, and through the operation of our algorithmic systems, as described in this Privacy Policy.
13.4 Business and Commercial Purposes. We use personal information for business and commercial purposes described in Sections 5 (How We Use Your Information), 6 (Artificial Intelligence and Automated Decision-Making), 7 (Biometric Data and Identity Verification), 8 (Location Data), 9 (How We Share Your Information), and 10 (Data Retention).
13.5 No Sale or Sharing. Couplify has not sold personal information in the preceding 12 months and does not sell personal information. Couplify does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by the CCPA.
13.6 Sensitive Personal Information. We may collect sensitive personal information, including government identification information, biometric information, precise geolocation if enabled and temporarily processed, sexual orientation or gender preference information, race or ethnicity if provided as a preference, religious information if provided, and certain user-generated content. We use sensitive personal information only for purposes permitted by the CCPA regulations, including to provide the Service, verify identity, prevent fraud and abuse, maintain safety and security, comply with law, and support user-requested features.
13.7 Automated Decision-Making Technology. Where required by the CCPA and its implementing regulations, Couplify provides pre-use notices, access rights, and opt-out rights regarding automated decision-making technology used by the Service. Couplify also maintains risk assessments for processing activities where required by applicable law.
13.8 Cybersecurity Audits. Where required by applicable law, Couplify will complete cybersecurity audits and submit any required certifications to the applicable regulator. Couplify also maintains administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the volume and sensitivity of the personal information processed.
13.9 California Shine the Light. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.
13.10 California Notice at Collection. Appendix B provides additional California notice-at-collection disclosures regarding categories of personal information, sources, categories of recipients, and business or commercial purposes. Not all categories will apply to every user or feature.
13.11 Sensitive Personal Information Limitation. We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes other than providing and improving the Service, maintaining safety and security, preventing fraud and abuse, verifying identity, complying with law, and supporting features you request. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you except as necessary to provide the Service, maintain safety, comply with law, or as otherwise permitted by the CCPA.
13.12 California Privacy Choices. If Couplify engages in activity that constitutes a sale or sharing of personal information under the CCPA, Couplify will provide a Your Privacy Choices link, app setting, or equivalent mechanism for California consumers to opt out of such activity.
