Biometric Privacy Policy
Effective August 10, 2026
Couplify LLC verifies that every member is a real person using their own identity. Doing that means scanning faces, and face data deserves more explanation than a line buried in a privacy policy. This page is that explanation.
It covers biometric data only. Everything else we collect is described in our Privacy Policy.
What we collect and how
When you join Couplify, you photograph the front of your government-issued ID and then take a few photos of your face, looking straight ahead, then left, then right. The head turns confirm a live person is present rather than someone holding up a photograph.
From those images, our verification provider generates a facial template: a mathematical description of your facial features. It isn't a picture. It's a set of measurements that can be compared against another set to determine whether two faces belong to the same person. That template, and the images it comes from, are what this policy governs.
We use Persona Identities Inc. to run this process. Persona is a specialized identity verification company working on our behalf and under our instructions. They don't get to decide what happens to your data, we do, and this policy is what we've decided.
Why we do it
To confirm your ID is authentic, that you're the person shown on it, that you're physically present when you verify, and that you haven't already created another account.
That's the entire list. Verification data never touches matching, recommendations, advertising, or anything else about how Couplify works.
How long we keep it
Your facial template is destroyed within 72 hours of the comparison finishing. Once we know your face matches your ID, the template has done its job.
Your ID photo and face photos are destroyed within 30 days. This applies whether or not you finished verifying, if you abandon the process partway, those images are deleted on the same schedule.
After that, what remains is the outcome: that you verified successfully, and the liveness result. Not the images, not the template, just the answer. We keep that while your account is open and for 12 months after you close it, so someone who was removed from Couplify can't immediately return under a new account.
We also keep a record that you consented, including the date and the exact version of the notice you agreed to. That record contains no biometric data.
If your verification is under active fraud review or appeal, or if we're legally required to preserve it, we hold the relevant data until that resolves and then delete it. In no case do we keep biometric identifiers longer than three years after your last interaction with Couplify.
Destruction is permanent. Deleted data isn't archived, deactivated, or recoverable.
What we will never do
We will never sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from your biometric data. We will never use it for advertising, share it with data brokers, contribute it to any fraud network unrelated to Couplify, or use it to train artificial intelligence models.
Persona is contractually bound by these same restrictions and by the deletion schedule above. Aside from Persona, no one outside Couplify receives your biometric data, unless we're compelled by valid legal process, in which case we disclose only what's required.
Your choices
Verification is required to use Couplify. There's no unverified version of the app, because the guarantee that everyone here is real is the reason Couplify exists. That means declining verification means not creating an account.
If you've already verified and want to withdraw your consent, delete your account in Settings. Deleting your account deletes your verification data along with it.

Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the update here with a new effective date. If a change affects how we handle data we already hold, we'll notify you directly and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent again.
